Intensive 3-Day Workshop – Korean Wheel Throwing: Making of a Sabal
Join us for an immersive 3-day course where you’ll master the art of Korean wheel throwing and create beautiful Sabal bowls from start to finish. Perfect for all skill levels, including beginners with some experience, this hands-on experience covers traditional techniques and tools, ensuring you leave with both knowledge and your own stunning pottery.
Workshop runs from 9 am to 5 pm daily, with lunch included.

In this course, you will learn to:
- Spiral wedging and clay preparation;
- Foundation techniques of wheel throwing, Centering and relaxing your clay;
- The fundamental V and U forms – Sabal technique;
- Korean trimming methods for perfect finishes;
- Buncheong techniques, gwiyal brushing, deombeong dipping, and stamping for authentic decoration;
- Take home 6 finished works
NOTE: This is an intensive workshop with a fixed class schedule. No rescheduling of classes allowed unless it is with the unanimous consent of all students in the class. Meet Your Instructor: Cindy Koh
This workshop is taught by Cindy Koh, who graduated with a ceramics degree from the USA in 1995. With over two decades of teaching experience since 2000, Cindy has recently upgraded her skills in Korea under the guidance of Master Kwak. Her extensive knowledge and passion for pottery will guide you through an enriching journey into the heart of Korean pottery.
