Come spend an easy, creative session in the studio shaping pieces for daily use. This class takes its cue from vintage enamel tableware—simple plates and cups once made for homes, hawker stalls, and long use at the table. We’ll echo those honest forms in clay using approachable hand skills and a gentle, unconventional wheel method. Roll slabs, form on the wheel for support and symmetry, build by hand—then finish everything with your own painted details. A welcoming introduction for beginners, and a satisfying return to the basics for those with experience.
In this class, you will:
- Form a plate on the wheel using a rolled slab and a guided, unconventional shaping technique for an even, balanced result;
- Hand-build a cup with a comfortable handle, focusing on proportion and a form that feels right in the hand;
- Refine and decorate your set using slips and underglazes—simple rims, gentle brushwork, or a quiet personal motif—so your pieces are durable and ready for everyday use.
Leave with a handmade plate and cup set—honest, useful, and made to be part of your daily table.
